Appendix N 2026 Bonus Dungeon: Hung Over and Harassed

In His Majesty The Worm there are a lot of city events that, if taken seriously, would be an entire adventure in themselves. The book chides the reader not to play out these adventures because it could turn the campaign into a “town game”.

Guess what we’re doing today?

HUNG OVER
After a drunken bender, the Guild wakes up in room 1. Draw one minor arcana for each character to see what happened to them last night.

I: Stuck in cursed chastity belt.
II: Covered in luminescent paint. Water soluble.
III: Obscene tattoo.
IV: Ankles shackled together, no key to be found.
V: Ring on finger, no sign of newly married spouse.
VI: Venereal disease.
VII: Minor wound, notch a Talent.
VIII: Serious wound, mark Injured.
IX: In possession of stolen item belonging to a dangerous person.
X: Suffer a Malediction per the spell (p207)
Page: A parasite fills an armor, head or hand slot.
Knight: Addicted to a drug. Black Honey (p98) Ghost Lotus or City specific.
Queen: All normal clothing missing. Armor and weapons untouched.
King: Wearing a real gold crown worth 50 GP.

When a player tries to use a piece of equipment from their sheet, there’s a 50% chance they lost it during their drunken adventure.

HARASSED
Use the Small Change tables if the players search a random room. Remember that you’re in the City. No Death’s Door. If you die you die.

1: Attic. Old furniture, trash and empty bottles all over room. Smells bad. Balcony with flowers over city. Chimney bellowing smoke from ovens. Hatch down to 3.

2: Dangling bats and spiders. Boarded up windows. Portrait of buxom Vislandgravine. Cabinet of revealing outfits. Coffin with image of The Devil holds Vampire (p282) who wakes on entry to room. Sunlight burns her. Window to 3. Door to 4. Hatch down to 5.

3: Spare room. Exterior windows boarded shut. Trapped with big glowing Rune of Vermin Swarm, Dark Creeper has darkvision and didn’t realize how bright it was. Interior window to 2, ladder down to 4.

4: Lair of Dark Creeper. He steals magic items and treasure to court the Vampire. Stash holds big stone statue of The Sun, a couple treasures, a few books. He hides unless adventurers rob his stash, then he alerts the Vampire. Boarded windows. Ladder to 3. Door to 2.

5: Halfling bedroom. Lots of dangling food. Hidden ceiling hatch to 2, Halfling sized interior door to 6.

6: Mush room. Big pots of illegal addictive fungus. Halflings from downstairs periodically enter to get mushrooms. Halfling sized interior door to 5, stairs down to 7.

7: Kitchen. Big oven for baking pies, connected to chimney. Three Halflings work the ovens. Stairs up to 6. Dwarf-sized door to 8. Employees only door out of building.

8: Restaurant counter. Four Halflings and one Dwarf sell mushroom pies with sides of fried parsnips and beer. Tubs of oil. Grease everywhere. Counter leads out to 9, Dwarf-sized door leads to 7.

9: Plaza. Two long lines of pie addicts queuing for Halfling Food at 8.

THE HALFLING RESTAURANT
The restaurant sells pies made with addictive mushrooms purchased from Deep Downers in the undercity. At first they think intruders are a gang stealing their drugs. Then they worry the Adventurers will tell the cops. They aren’t experienced killers but fear makes them violent.

The Halflings Bledrick, Olgamund, Bena, Jo, Ergotina, Marcy and Kole are hopeless in a fair fight but can use the same Fight Dirty talents as the Pentacles path. They shove people into ovens, trip them into racks of cutlery, toss boiling oil on them…

The Dwarf Tamiya Pitchblende is tougher and tanks injuries on behalf of her little brothers. She wields a cleaver like an ax and can hit multiple adventurers with one attack in the cramped confines of the first floor.

ABBREVIATED MEAT GRINDER
Use the Minor Arcana. A random character suffers the listed effect.
Swords: Vomit
Cups: Piss
Wands: Migraine
Pentacles: Dizziness

THE END
When things start to drag, the All Watch vice squad raids the tower.  They’ve got a lot of beefy mace-armed Constables in iron armor and a Necromantic Detective who uses Stinking Cloud (p208) to control crowds.

THE MAKING OF
This is a bonus dungeon for the 2026 Appendix N Jam. I finished my main entry and wanted to create another, so I trawled the discussion page for abandoned prompts. You can find the formatted version of the adventure here.
