Holiday in Caledonia: Music Post

Dahl

A lot of Judero and other overlap with Mythic Bastionland. This one was finished long before I read Mythic, but sat on the shelf until I had a chance to playtest it.

Riverboat Gambler - Music

Dali

The Priestess who handed the Thresher an enormous loaf and a tureen of spiced lentils told him the thing in his heart was a gift. He said nothing to her but she saw through him into his heart. The Goddess would not take it away like she would a physical wound. It hurt but it separated him from the things that squirmed and writhed in the vaults beneath the Tower of Pain. The ones which, turned loose, would mindlessly kill and kill until driven back into the cave with holy sigils and command words.
Animals had instinctive fear of man. A sword was no different from a stinger or a claw and from the moment they could walk, they ran. Not so for children, even the children of monstermen. They associated creatures larger than themselves with smiling faces and food. They rushed toward the armored figures as they came through the door, chirping excitedly, expecting companionship and play- At what point had he himself gone from expecting companionship and play to accepting the splash of arterial blood on his face without flinching? He recalled playing with pillbugs in the straw. Imagining he rode a dragon. He recalled also how he had set a trap for the cat under the milk pail. He had tormented ants until they flew into a rage and killed their sisters. If others were cruel to him he was crueler still. Perhaps there was no transition. Was that an excuse he made to himself? Did he say he was born rotten because he couldn't accept that he had allowed it to happen? A click came from the big board. Below the image of the bread and the sword, the display ticked over. The Thresher's name appeared in the order of precedence next to his new score. The Goddess' love came freely but her approval was hard won. It filled the Thresher in an instant. Stronger than beer and the taste of buttered bread. Stronger than the bullet in his heart when he thought about what he had done to get his name there.

The Great Glass Mountain - Music Post

Lacombe

The Great Glass Mountain was named after the song of the same name from Judero. I don't usually use music with lyrics but I got to deploy that one in-game and I really liked the way it turned out.

In the Hands of Osiris - Music Post

Lecomte de Nouy

Mostly recycled from prior soundscapes, but I compiled it anyway. A friend said she liked the scenario and might run it someday.

C Series Music Post

For C1 I mostly used the Barony soundscape, falling back on Machinarium for the safe areas of the Fazenda. C2 was a grab bag. C3 happened the way it did because I wanted to use the space theme from Metal Slug 3, and the rest fell into place after that.

The Marriage of the Giantess Morwenna - Music Post

John Martin

Marriage of the Giantess Morwenna used a mix of handpicked and recycled sounds. I got a lot of mileage out of the Dwarf Fortress OST, which is the best thing to come out of the Steam release.

Maintenance and Preservation Music Post

This was an in-person game, played in a public place where I didn't have control over the sound system, so all these tracks are for my personal benefit.

A Bed of Roses: Music Post

Si Sheppard

City of the Inhumi is what convinced me to finish A Bed of Roses. It looked like a lot of hard work to write up tons of locations for the City of Tenochtitlan, but then I imagined the song playing as the players came out of the Guild Hall and saw the ruins, and decided to do it anyway.

Singing Sand Music Post

Another day, another Singing Sand post with a David Roberts illustration.

I uploaded the Saint Kotar OST to Soundcloud myself since nobody else even noticed when it came out. It's a cool adventure game that released to basically zero acclaim. If you like Delta Green or Fear & Hunger you should try it.

The Cage Cup - Music Post

This is a short one since the scenario rarely goes longer than two hours. I didn't worry about picking all-original music and just picked stuff that fit the theme of each encounter.

ANGUISHEDWIRES - Music Post

I didn't do this originally because I felt it was too similar to the track list for my other dungeon The Manor of the Giant Arminius. But a friend asked me to compile it because he wanted to run ANGUISHEDWIRES.

Manor of the Giant Arminius - Music Post

I've been diverted from work on new dungeons (Oops, All Hags! and The Salt Pan) by Tormsen's superb upcoming UA3 splat Special Orders. But I did a rerun of The Manor of the Giant Arminius the other day for the latest Good Friends of Jackson Elias virtual convention, and came up with this updated music list.

There's some overlap with the Fallin' Down music posts, because I recycled a lot of the same ideas for that.
