Slobodan “SoCal Sal" Obradovic - Sassy Serbian Gangster
Lilly Dosik - Helpful Social Worker
The Keepers of the Faith in present day New York know Thomas exists. The Fate sheltered him, but now the Fate are gone. The orthodox ghouls of the underworld are hunting him. Fearing for his life, he takes on the voice of Delta Green agent MONTRESOR and dials the number he absorbed from his memory. He tells the answering machine the story of a monstrous cannibal conspiracy still active beneath the city, in hopes that one of his enemies will dispose of the other.
The players weren't convinced they needed to immediately hunt the "Rat People" in the sewers. They tracked MONTRESSOR's phone call back to Thomas the Fat's warehouse, and one of them almost got eaten by Thomas sneaking in. Rather than immediately set the building on fire and start a fight with the giant maggot creature inside, they did some more investigating. It wasn't like he was going anywhere.
The Agents bought weapons from Sal, asked Lilly for rumors about the underground, then went into the ruins of Club Apocalypse to look for the "Dog Faced Men" who were hunting the giant ghoul. They found a strange creature in the underground tunnels, who explained that Thomas the Fat was a real piece of shit and had to go. All the Agents had to do was knock out a window or a piece of the wall inside the factory, disrupting the protective wards he had set up.
They returned to the old meat packing plant and found it guarded by a couple of mafia greaseballs. The US Marshal ran interference while the Marine snuck in the back and bashed open one of the boarded windows. Thomas desperately tried to arrange transportation out of the city on a semi truck, but the mobsters couldn't get a permit for an oversized load in the timeframe he needed, and they weren't about to get into a gunfight with the police. The Agents waited until nightfall, and watched as an enormous, shuffling figure emerged from an alleyway and tossed a molotov into the Tomb of Thomas the Fat. The building went up in a cloud of tallowy smoke, and the meat packing district smelled like rendering fat again for the next week.
(SoCal Sal is obviously inspired by Noho Hank, Anthony Carrigan's breakout character from HBO's Barry. He was a big hit with the Agents)
