For all the recipes that were either too simple or not good enough to make it into the main drinks post series.
Dutch Russian
This is a stock photo from Wikipedia.
This is a White Russian with genever instead of vodka. It tastes like a malted milkshake. Delicious, but nothing to run home about.
Availability: Moderate. I've never seen ouzo in a grocery store liquor aisle - though oddly enough most of them have sambuca, which is an Italian version of the same concept.
I love Colombian aguardiente for its licorice taste, but you basically can't get it here. Thankfully ouzo fills a similar niche. Just drop two ounces in a glass full of cracked ice, and pour in some coca cola. Take a sip, and if it's too strong, add more coke. The idea is to get just the right blend of sweet licorice spirit and sweet beverage.
Vrykolakas
Availability: Tricky. This one takes cocchi or kina, both of which are tough to get except at megastores.
This one is a Corpse Reviver Number Two with ouzo instead of gin, and no absinthe. It's an inferior product that I basically just made up because the name is a pun. Don't actually go out and buy ingredients to make this drink. It's a curiosity for people who already have all the component parts.
Reanimation Formula/Sapphire Compound
Availability: Tricky for the same reason as the Corpse Reviver and Vrykolakas
This is just a Corpse Reviver with blue curacao as the orange liqueur. Most people just call that a Corpse Reviver Number Blue. The joke is that in Delta Green, Herbert West (and later the Karotechia) use a bright blue serum to revive corpses as zombies.
